Launch of HRMS Module for Out of Turn Promotions of Sportspersons in Indian Railways

The Indian Railways has taken another significant digital step by introducing a dedicated HRMS module for managing out of turn promotions for sportspersons. Announced through Railway Board letter No. PC-VII/2025/HRMS/40 dated 02 December 2025, this new feature aims to bring transparency, accuracy, and faster processing to sportsperson promotion cases.

A New Digital Milestone in HRMS

The newly launched module is designed to streamline the end-to-end workflow of sportsperson achievements and subsequent promotions. Earlier, promotion cases required multiple manual checks and physical processing at various levels. With this upgrade, everything—from recording sporting achievements to final posting orders—can now be completed within the HRMS platform.

This ensures:

  • Faster processing
  • Better accuracy
  • Uniform application of eligibility norms
  • Seamless validation and approval

The module officially became operational from 1 December 2025.

Who Should Use the New Module?

All Indian Railways Field Units, including PUs and CTIs, have been instructed to start processing out of turn promotion cases exclusively through this HRMS module. Even cases that have not yet reached the final approving authority must now be routed through this digital system.

This ensures that every pending and future case follows the same transparent digital trail.

User Support and Help Resources

To help staff smoothly adopt this new feature, the Railways has made a detailed User Manual available under the Help section of HRMS.
Additionally, Railways and Units can reach out to the HRMS team of CRIS for any support or clarification regarding the module’s operation.

This initiative reflects the Railway Board’s continued commitment to digitization, efficiency, and improved HR processes—especially for sportspersons who bring glory to the nation and the Railways.
