CGEGIS Benefits 2025: Updated Savings Fund Tables for Oct–Dec 2025
The Ministry of Finance has released the latest Office Memorandum detailing the Central Government Employees Group Insurance Scheme (CGEGIS) Benefits for 2025, specifically for the quarter from 01 October 2025 to 31 December 2025. These quarterly benefit tables help employees understand the updated value of their savings fund based on the current interest rates and subscription levels.
Latest Update Issued on 12 November 2025
The Department of Expenditure, E-V Branch, has issued new tables for the CGEGIS savings fund after the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (IRDA) worked out the calculations. The benefits for this quarter are based on an interest rate of 7.1% per annum, compounded quarterly, as notified by the Department of Economic Affairs in their Resolution dated 10 October 2025.
This update continues the practice followed since January 2017, where benefit tables are issued every quarter to maintain transparency and accuracy for all central government employees.
Two Categories of Benefit Tables
As per the established system, the CGEGIS savings fund tables are issued under two different categories, depending on the employee’s subscription history.
1. Savings Fund Based on Revised Subscription Rates
This table applies to employees who contributed:
- ₹10 per month from 1 January 1982 to 31 December 1989, and
- ₹15 per month from 1 January 1990 onwards.
These employees are covered under the revised subscription rates introduced in 1990, and their savings fund grows according to the updated contribution structure.
2. Savings Fund for Employees Who Opted Out of the Revised Subscription
The second table applies to employees who chose not to adopt the revised contribution rates from 1 January 1990.
For them, the subscription remained:
- ₹10 per month throughout.
Due to the lower subscription amount, the benefit values differ from the first category.
Consultation With CAG for IA&AD Personnel
For employees serving in the Indian Audit and Accounts Department (IA&AD), the Ministry has issued these orders in consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG). This is in accordance with Article 148(5) of the Constitution of India, which mandates such consultation for matters affecting IA&AD personnel.
Hindi Version Also Available
As per the standard government practice, a Hindi version of the Office Memorandum has also been attached for wider accessibility.
