Pension Payment Slip: CPAO Issues Fresh Reminder to Banks for Monthly Issuance

The Central Pension Accounting Office (CPAO) has once again reminded all authorised banks to ensure that every Central Civil Pensioner and Family Pensioner receives their Pension Payment Slip every month without fail. This reminder comes after several pensioners continued to report non-receipt of their monthly pension slips, despite earlier instructions issued in February 2024.

Background of the Latest Reminder

The CPAO referred to its earlier Office Memorandum dated 28 February 2024, where all Central Pension Processing Centres (CPPCs) were directed to send the monthly pension payment slip to pensioners through available modes, including digital formats.

However, many pensioners are still raising grievances regarding the non-receipt of their Pension Payment Slip, prompting CPAO to reiterate the instructions.

Banks Must Send Monthly Pension Slip Without Fail

In this latest communication, the CPAO clearly states that all CPPCs of authorised banks must invariably provide the pension payment slip after crediting pension or family pension. The slip should include details such as:

  • Monthly pension credited
  • Allowances and deductions
  • Tax-related information
  • Arrears, if any

Banks have been asked to use all available delivery modes, especially:

✔ Email

If the pensioner has an email ID, banks must send the Pension Payment Slip through email every month.

✔ Collect Email IDs from Pensioners

If the pensioner’s email ID is not available in bank records, CPPCs should proactively collect it so that slips can be delivered digitally.

This approach aims to make the process faster, smoother, and fully transparent for pensioners.

Approval by Chief Controller (Pensions)

The reminder has been issued with the approval of the Chief Controller (Pensions). CPAO expects strict compliance from all authorised banks to eliminate repeated grievances and ensure timely communication with pensioners.

What It Means for Pensioners

Pensioners can now expect:

  • Regular monthly receipt of their Pension Payment Slip
  • Better clarity on payments and deductions
  • Easy digital access through email
  • Reduced need to visit banks physically

If a pensioner still does not receive the slip, they may raise a grievance with the concerned bank or through CPAO’s official channels.
