State Railway Provident Fund Interest Rate for Oct–Dec 2025 Announced: 7.1% Continues

State Railway Provident Fund Interest Rate for Oct–Dec 2025 Announced: 7.1% Continues

New Delhi, October 24, 2025:
The Railway Board has officially issued a circular confirming that the interest rate for the State Railway Provident Fund (SRPF) will remain unchanged at 7.1% for the third quarter of the financial year 2025-26, i.e., from 1 October 2025 to 31 December 2025.

The notification (No. F(E)III/2003/PF-1/1) was released by the Ministry of Railways, Railway Board, and addressed to all General Managers, Principal Financial Advisers, and Directors General of RDSO and NAIR.
The order follows the Department of Economic Affairs (Ministry of Finance) resolution dated 10 October 2025, which maintained the same interest rate for General Provident Fund (GPF) subscribers across Central Government departments.

What This Means for Railway Employees

For lakhs of railway employees who contribute to the State Railway Provident Fund, this order means the interest rate stays steady at 7.1%, continuing from the previous quarter.
Although there were expectations of a slight upward revision in line with inflation and bond yields, the Ministry has opted for stability—likely reflecting the government’s cautious fiscal stance as the economy continues to balance growth and expenditure.

A stable interest rate ensures that employees’ long-term savings remain predictable, even if it may feel modest compared to inflation or market returns. For many, the SRPF remains one of the most trusted, risk-free savings options, backed by government security.

Why It Matters

For government employees—especially those nearing retirement—each quarterly update on the Provident Fund interest rate holds great importance.
The SRPF, being part of the traditional benefits system of Indian Railways, continues to play a vital role in ensuring financial security and stable post-retirement income.

This consistency in interest rate reflects the government’s commitment to maintaining stability for long-term small savings, even amidst changing economic trends.

Bottom Line

The SRPF interest rate of 7.1% for October to December 2025 brings continuity and predictability for railway employees.
While no increase this quarter may disappoint some, the assurance of steady returns backed by the Government of India remains a source of comfort for many.
